In an interview to promote Molly's Game (2017), Jessica Chastain expressed an interest in playing Beverly Marsh. During the filming of It (2017), she emerged as the fan-favorite to play the older Bev, with director Andy Muschietti, producer Barbara Muschietti and Young Beverly's actress Sophia Lillis all going on record to say she would be their first choice too. In February 2018, Chastain was officially confirmed for the role.
