Donald Pleasence, who lived nearby the film's location in Saint-Paul-De-Vince, Nice, visited the set one day to see his old friend Michael Caine. They spent the afternoon playing boules together on what Pleasence called "The Village Brown", which was his nickname for the local boules pitch.
