This is the first live-action Transformers film in which Megatron does not appear at all. This is because the movie, which was originally developed as a prequel to the previous installments, takes place at a time when he was officially unaccounted for, as he froze when he crash-landed on Earth thousands of years ago and was subsequently kept under observation at the Hoover Dam.
