In 1977, Michael Apted directed a British TV movie, shown on the BBC, entitled "Stronger Than The Sun"; it was written by Stephen Poliakoff and starred Francesca Annis. Years later, Apted claimed that it had been inspired by the story of Karen Silkwood, with the plot fictionalized and the setting moved to Britain.
