Max von Sydow was nominated for Best Actor In A Leading Role for his part in Pelle alla conquista del mondo (1987) which was directed by Bille August, who was married to Pernilla August, who played Shmi Skywalker in Star Wars: Episodio I - La minaccia fantasma (1999) and Star Wars: Episodio II - L'attacco dei cloni (2002). Both Augusts and Von Sydow were known for their frequent collaborations with Ingmar Bergman, albeit never all three in the same film.
