By directing La casa (1981), La casa 2 (1987) and L'armata delle tenebre (1992), as well as the pilot episode of this series, Ash vs. Evil Dead: El Jefe (2015), Sam Raimi has been involved as a director in every installment of the original Evil Dead series. He produced but did not direct La casa (2013), which was rumored to be set in the same universe and would even lead to a cross-over with the rest of the series, but this never materialized.
