The porter says that his name is Cephas. Later he is revealed to be St. Peter. Cephas is from the Aramaic word for "rock". Jesus gives Simon the name "Peter" in the gospel of John, chapter 1, verse 42. Peter is the English form of the Greek name "Petros", which also means "rock".
