Sylvia Kristel was only paid $6,000 to make this film. She had signed a contract for three films. But when it became apparent that Emmanuelle would be a huge success, she demanded a raise and producers gave it to her. For the sequel, Emmanuelle: The Joys of a Woman, the following year, she received about $100,000.
