Valentine's line "I learned how to skate when I was a little boy" was an ad-lib from Peter Fonda. Right after the take Fonda explained to Steven Soderbergh that his parents hired Norwegian figure skater Sonja Henie to train him how to ice skate. Evidently the training was a complete failure.
