The paintings shown over the end credits show that Dr. Dolittle and his friends were all inducted into the Royal Victorian Order (noted by the Maltese cross badge suspended from red, white, and blue ribbon). This dynastic order of knighthood was created by HM Queen Victoria in 1896. It recognizes distinguished personal service to the monarch of the Commonwealth realms, members of the monarch's family, or to any viceroy or senior representative of the monarch. The character's seen wearing the badge/medal around their neck (like Dolittle) were made Knight Commanders of the Order and are entitled to be addressed as "Sir" or "Dame." The characters wearing the badge suspended from a ribbon on their chest were made either Commanders, Lieutenants, or Members of the Order.
