Gibson's character Riggs mockingly calls Jet Li's Wah Sing Koo "Bruce" in reference to Bruce Lee. Ironically while he had tried to distance himself from the legendary actor/martial artist, Jet had recently made a remake of Lee's Dalla Cina con furore (1972) with Jing wu ying xiong (1994). His outfit as Wah Sing Koo even resembles the one he wore in the former film.
