Ben Foster was considered for the parts of both brothers (Kenny and Peter). Unfortunately, due to filming conflicts from The Program (2015), and a confirmed report that the casting director and producers were leaning towards Ben playing the smaller role of Peter, he decided to stick to The Program (2015), as the star of the movie. When Ben was asked about if it was him being the star compared to a limited scene, smaller co-star role in Tombstones, Ben joked "No fu*king sh*t Sherlock!" But did say he was willing to do both, only if he got to play the smaller role of Peter, so he didn't have to worry about scheduling conflicts and not working as much. They ended up choosing Boyd Holbrook over Foster, and he immediately pulled out.
