A previous trivia entry noted that Kilvinsky was about to retire, although the actor playing him, George C. Scott, was only about 44 years old at the time. In the movie, Kilvinsky is shown with four hash marks (short diagonal stripes on the lower left sleeve of his uniform shirt), each representing five years of service with the LAPD. If Kilvinsky started at LAPD at age 21, he could have had up to 23 years of service at age 44, and been eligible to retire with a full pension that comes at 20 years of service.
