The scene where Kirk Douglas meets girlfriend Carrie Snodgrass outside of Marshall Fields in a plush indoor mall was filmed at Chicago's famous Water Tower Place; one of the world's most extravagant and impressive indoor mall-galleries; located in Chicago's Magnificent Mile. Several other movies have been filmed there including Gente comune (1980), Class (1983), Poltergeist III (1988), and Il cavaliere oscuro (2008).
