Director Paul Bogart didn't want Anthony Perkins to mug the camera during "If You Can Find Me, I'm Here," so composer Stephen Sondheim suggested Perkins should look just off camera. Perkins later claimed that it made him look cross-eyed and crazy, and he placed the blame upon Bogart.
