Rounding out the cast with much loved Australian actors, writer-director Marion Pilowsky found the ideal Iris, the mother of Ronnie (Emily Taheny), in famed veteran Australian actress Tina Bursill. Pilowsky said: "She brought such a sweetness and innocence to the role while still being able to tap into the stern parent from decades past. She just nailed it, and her relationship with Ronnie is the emotional spine of the film."
