When Dr. Wells (Really Thawne) visits his hidden office in S.T.A.R. Labs, a news headline from the future is shown repeatedly which states The Flash vanished during a Crisis. In the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" mini-series of comics, Barry saves reality at the expense of his life, vanishing from the new reality.
