This is the second computer-animated Disney feature film to use brief traditional animation, mainly Maui's tattoos and the last verse of the "You're Welcome" song sequence. The first one was Bolt - Un eroe a quattro zampe (2008), which had hand-drawn animation in the first half, during the Map Sequence of Bolt and Mittens traveling across each state, and at the end the closing credits.
