This remake inter-changes the nationalities of the two lead characters and their location from the original Fino all'ultimo respiro (1960). That original film featured a French criminal and an American girl whereas this remake has an American criminal and a French girl. Kaprisky's character, Monica Poiccard, took the last name of Jean-Paul Belmondo's character Michel Poiccard from Fino all'ultimo respiro (1960). The films also have their settings swapped, the remake is set in the USA (in Los Angeles) whereas the original film was set in France (Paris).
