The character Bud Brown (the store manager with the striped necktie and the red vest)'s name was chosen because of the real-life founder of C.N. Brown Company, Bud Brown. C.N. Brown is a company in South Paris, Maine, which operates convenience stores and heating oil offices in northern New England, including near author Stephen King's own childhood home.
