Sean S. Cunningham said to Adam Marcus to not only "Get that damn hockey mask out of the movie." but also choose not pick up after Venerdì 13: parte VIII - Incubo a Manhattan (1989), instead choosing to ignore all the sequels and follow after the original Venerdì 13 (1980) and only used bits and pieces of the sequels. (Mainly Part 2.) During interview with Adam Marcus in 1993, he said "One of the first decisions made was to completely ignore "Jason Takes Manhattan." No one liked that film. It had a great idea, but was all on a boat. I kind of liked "The New Blood" because it tried to be something with the "Jason vs. Carrie" angle, but we wanted to forget everything that happened previously except for the original film and parts of Part 2. I didn't want "The Final Friday" to be tied to anything besides what happened in the first film."
