According to the creators, Finn was trying to tell Rey that he was Force-Sensitive before they sank into the sand. If true, it would mean that Finn would not be the second non-Force sensitive person to wield a lightsaber as assumed during the release of Star Wars - Il risveglio della Forza (2015). This would once again establish Han Solo as the only non-Force sensitive person to use the weapon in the trilogy.
