Composer Stephen Sondheim obtained a video of the show for his personal collection, which he duplicated for a few friends. The tapes went on to be bootlegged endlessly for decades, amassing a cult of fans and eventually leading to an official DVD and digital release in 2010, transferred from a newly-discovered black-and-white kinescope print.
