The spells Polo Ravales's character uses in the film are based on many different things. For example, the spell for transfiguration, "alavet", is director Quark Henares's catchphrase for when he's happy with a take. The spell for exploding things, "fluxxekakke", is based on a dance event held in Fort Bonifacio at the time. The spell for rain, "Yari Saisi Khumen", is the chorus of the band Imago's "rain song". Finally, the spell for lighting, "Lokaj", is a dirty Filipino word spelled backwards (although the filmmakers were forced to make it "Lotaj" in dubbing.
