An unused plot element from Star Wars: Episodio III - La vendetta dei Sith (2005) would've revealed Palpatine as the one who created Anakin Skywalker (influenced Midichloreans to create life). This would make Palpatine Anakin's father and Luke's grandfather, and since it's revealed that Palpatine is also Rey's biological grandfather, she really IS, in fact, a Skywalker. Though it hasn't been revealed that Palpatine is related to Anakin, and is pure speculation.
