This is the second disaster film by Roland Emmerich to prominently feature the Chrysler Building's spire getting severed off, after the 1998 film "Godzilla". It is also the fourth film to feature the Chrysler Building's severed spire after the 1998 disaster films "Godzilla" and "Armageddon" and the "Busy World of Richard Scarry" TV Series episode "The Big Apple Christmas Caper".
