Director Fede Alvarez posted an original ending on his social media that's part of the film's 9th anniversary which revealed Mia being attack in a POV that was a deliberate callback to the end of La casa (1981) and shows more from the first draft that has Mia being killed with gallons of her blood and guts. Sam Raimi wisely pointed out and telled Alvarez "after everything she's been through, she deserves to live" and rewrote it to the actual ending and did stated that Jane Levy let out one of her best screams in the movie on this take.
