The Decepticon Blitzwing design almost looked identical to the design of Starscream from The Transformers (1984). This lead many fans to believe that this character was Starscream, until director Travis Knight disproved it. In the original cartoon, Blitzwing was a purple and beige Decepticon that could turn into both a jet and a tank.
