Joan Collins and Peter Falk, Ron Howard, Telly Savalas and Strother Martin were all considered for parts in this picture. Apparently, Falk and Savalas at different times--Falk first, then Savalas--were slated for the Millen role, which in the end was cast with Lee Marvin.
