In Il mostro della laguna nera (1954), the creature suit was built to hold the air in, so there were no bubbles when the creature was underwater. In order to save money and to provide air for the stuntman in underwater sequences, the suit design was changed to allow a hose to pump air to the actor. As a result, bubbles could be seen coming out of different parts of the suit.
