Donald Sutherland played Humbert in a failed Broadway production of "Lolita" in 1981, opposite Blanche Baker as Lolita, Clive Revill as Quilty, and Shirley Stoler as Charlotte. Written by Edward Albee, the play ran for 31 previews and 12 performances. John Barry co-wrote a musical which folded before it even reached New York.
