In the real world this is very similar to spiritual geometric patterns called Yantra. Yantra (Sanskrit) is a mystical diagram, mainly from the Tantric traditions of the Indian religions. Specific yantras are traditionally associated with specific deities. These energy centers create a spiritual portal or vortex to allow the energies, healing and mystic teachings of the various deities to come through and were also adopted by Tibetan and other forms of Buddhism.
