After Cardinal Francis Law resigned his post as Archbishop of Boston he was succeeded by Cardinal Seán Patrick O'Malley. One of Cardinal O'Malley's first acts was to institute a zero tolerance policy on sexual abuse by the Clergy. Cardinal O'Malley is the first, and only president of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, an advisory committee started in 2014 by Pope Francis to help protect minors from sexual abuse by the Clergy.
