The first official script to be written was by Lewis Abernathy, who wrote the script as "Nightmare 13: Freddy Meets Jason" in 1993. He was initially to direct by James Cameron but endorsed by Sean S. Cunningham. His story followed 13 Freddy worshipping cult members who plans to resurrect their idol through a virgin sacrifice to rebirth Freddy to life and kidnaps a 13-year old slow girl, Lizzie. Her older sister, Megan and her friends revives Jason Voorhees to save her sister and stop the cult. The script included "Dream Dope" - a special sunglasses that's frequency induces dreams in order for cult to contact Freddy. Jason was seen as a anti-hero and he and the teens were chased by a secondary villain, named Captain Murdock: a murderous sheriff who goes after the leads and had a connection with Jason who survived a machete wound to his head that affected his brain through insanity. Jason's rebuilt with barbed wires, chicken wire, and metal plates and brought back through Megan's boyfriend's heart after dying from Freddy. It also connects Freddy and Jason's origins, having a 13-year old Freddy drowning Jason. Elias Voorhees was to appear through a flashback. It was written as a PG-13 satire that at one point censors a F-bomb by Freddy. The final fight takes place the dream world, as a boxing match, (made out of human entrails as posts with skulls,) and features a crowd of corpses and zombies, only for Ted Bundy to emerge as the announcer. Lee Harvey Oswald, Adolf Hitler, Eva Braun, Bloody Mary, and Benito Mussolini were also in the crowed. After Jason pulls Freddy back to reality, he would head-stomp his head, Murdock dies with a shotgun up his rear, as Jason's shot to bits by the FBI with gunfire, and ends with Freddy's "phone-tongue" appearing as Megan holds a gun behind her pillow before she sleeps. Although this script wasn't used, many later drafts would utalized many elements like the cult, heart transplant into Jason, the backstory connection, and a girl named Lizzie.
