Han talking about Luke and his disappearance and that he had heard a rumor that Luke had went off in search for the first Jedi Temple is a nod to the original draft of L'Impero colpisce ancora (1980) by Leigh Brackett. Luke learns he has a sister called Nellith and that she had been taken to the other side of the galaxy to be trained as a Jedi and that the sequel trilogy would be about Luke's search for Nellith. However, when George Lucas rewrote the screenplay, and then made Leia into Luke's sister for Il ritorno dello Jedi (1983), this idea was dropped.
