The movie picks up shortly after the events of Spider-Man 2 (2004). Things seem to be going well in Peter's life and Mary Jane is living her dream of acting on Broadway. Mary Jane also pursued an acting career in the comics and at one point moved to the West Coast to find work in Hollywood.
