Almost the entire regular cast of the I segreti di Twin Peaks (1990) TV series returned for this movie, although many actors credited as starring in the film actually only make brief appearances on screen. E.g. Peggy Lipton and Heather Graham each appear for less than 30 seconds in the 134 minute film. Other cast members had filmed scenes that were left on the cutting room floor (most of these scenes were later released as Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces (2014)). Lara Flynn Boyle did not return as Donna Hayward, and her role was taken over by Moira Kelly. Completely absent is the character of Audrey Horne, played in the series by Sherilyn Fenn, even though her character had survived the ending of the series, according to the tie-in book "The Secret History of Twin Peaks" by series writer Mark Frost.
