With this film, Ewan McGregor and Gary Oldman now have three things in common: both have worked with Natalie Portman (in the Star Wars prequels and The Professional), both have played a role previously played by Sir Alec Guinness, (Obi-Wan Kenobi and George Smiley), and both appeared in a film adaptation of a John le Carré novel (this film and La talpa (2011)).
