Jack Hawkins had survived laryngeal cancer, and could only speak through an artificial voicebox. Robert Rietty, who dubbed his voice as Count Fredericks, also dubbed Hawkins' last film performance as theatre critic Soloman Psaltery in Oscar insanguinato (1973).
