The missing footage of the song 'When Love Is Gone" is not included in the theatrical version in UK cinemas shown in December 2020. This is because that cut of the film was taken from a 2012 digital transfer (made from the 1992 release negative). Director Brian Henson explained in an interview with BBC Radio 2 in November 2020 that the missing camera negative for that scene had only been found a few weeks before as he had just been invited to review it. While he was happy the footage still existed, he wasn't sure if Disney would have the time to reinstate it for streaming purposes in time for Christmas 2020 as it needed a 4K HD transfer. However he was optimistic the restored film will be made available in the near future (presumably meaning for Christmas 2021). In December of 2022, in celebration of the film's 30th anniversary, the missing song was finally placed back into the movie and was made available on Disney Plus.
