Robin Shou originally turned down the script because he thought it was bad based solely on the title. His agent called him three times and told him to at least meet Chris Farley, who he didn't know. When Robin met with Chris, he told him he'd never done comedy and that he needed help in that arena. Chris told him to just be himself and be honest. That is what made Robin agree to do the film.
