Chris Farley helped develop the script. When they went into 'Ninja', the writers wanted it to be a really broad, adult movie, Chris really took it more in the direction of being a movie for kids and families, which is what he wanted (and was for the better as the filmmakers later realized that it wouldn't have worked as a movie for adults).
