The pilot episode, "Good News, Bad News" is also known as "The Seinfeld Chronicles". NBC requested that the show's title be shortened to simply "Seinfeld". This was done to avoid confusing it with another 1990 sitcom called The Marshall Chronicles (1990) on ABC. That show was described as Woody Allen meets Blue Jeans (1988). It lasted six shows. The re-named "Seinfeld" lasted nine years.
