The majority of the scenes are shot in color, save for the flashback scenes which are shot in Black and White, most notably in the scenes where Hercule Poirot is describing the crime at the beginning of the film in Jerusalem and also the scene where Poirot describes the Armstrong Case to Bouc. This method also is used in the sequel by Kenneth Branagh, 'Death on the Nile', primarily in the beginning sequence with the World War One flashback.
