According to Mark Ruffalo, Edward Norton mainly didn't like that Bruce Banner was struggling with his issues of the Hulk all over again, when at the end of L'incredibile Hulk (2008), it seemed as though Banner had actually accepted it, and thus, the Avengers movie wouldn't really be developing Banner's character much.
