The real Chris Kyle had every intention of enlisting in the Marines. However, when he went to the military recruiting office, where recruiters from all of the military branches had offices, the Marine recruiter was at lunch, and the Navy recruiter happened to see Kyle, and invited him to come talk about the Navy and what it had to offer.
