J.K. Simmons is the first Oscar-winning actor to appear in the Terminator franchise, having won his Oscar for Whiplash (2014) while Terminator Genysis was in post-production. Although Christian Bale is also an Oscar winner (for The Fighter (2010)), he had not yet won it when appearing in Terminator Salvation (2009).
