Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rachel Bilson, Alyssa Milano, Josie Davis, Fairuza Balk and Portia de Rossi were considered for the role of Alison Scott. Christina Aguilera was also a contender for the role but had to turn it down because she was promoting her Back to Basics (2006) album at the time.
