Director Edgar Wright decided early on that if he really wanted to capture the Soho ambiance, he would have to film on location there, as opposed to recreating it in a similar neighborhood or on a studio soundstage. An enormous amount of logistical planning was needed to work around the bustling area because so many of the local businesses were open 24/7. Wright described the London location shoot as a "Herculean endeavor" requiring the close cooperation of his location manager with the City of Westminster. Period cars, clothing and storefront signs had to be organized to accurately reflect the era.
