Eddie is mentioned in the first film by Robbie (Bill Nunn) as a regular photographer for The Daily Bugle. It is said that even he is unable to get pictures of Spider-Man. This prompts Jameson to seek a photographer who can - which is how the newspaper comes to employ Peter Parker. Despite this, Eddie introduces himself as "the new guy" after he meets Spider-Man.
